12/01/18: PRGC December XTC Results

Shooters,
It was a crisp 47 degrees for the first relay this morning, cold enough that I could see my breath.  Temps warmed up to about 60 degrees by the time we got back to the 500 yard line and the mild winds led to some really good scores.  This morning was a great example of why I live in this beautiful State and definitely makes sweating through the summers worthwhile.

Junior shooter Jacob Blackman and Steve Collins lead the way, both shooting 778.  Jacob took the win finishing with 32X and Steve Collins took second shooting 23X.  Wayne UIlrich finished 3rd shooting 777-21X, just edging out Tim Traxler who shot 776-14X.  David Friedman cleaned both 300 yard rapid fire strings for the first time and ended with 774-25X.  Great shooting everyone!

Next week is the monthly midrange prone match.  Pits open at 7:30, rounds downrange at 8:30.  Hope to see you there!

See you on the line!

11/24/18 PRGC: Results of the PRGC Smallbore Conventional 1200 Match on Nov 24, 2018

Good Morning All,

Yesterday we had a smallbore conventional 1200 match at PRGC and we had a good turnout of juniors (see pic attached).  In addition to the 8 juniors, we had 1 new shooter to our group who enjoyed himself even using one of the junior's guns.  It was also great to see Allen Elliot out and shooting with us.

That's the good news.  Unfortunately, we had no other shooters.  I know there was a high-power match at Ben Avery and some who were not shooting were helping out with the match.  In talking with Doug Carney and John Bombardier, range time at PRGC is getting to be at a critical level.  Other divisions are requesting to use the range for their shooters.  We are in the process of setting up the calendar for next year and will be making some changes that hopefully will increase the participation in our smallbore conventional matches.

There was a smallbore conventional matches scheduled for PRGC next Sunday Dec 2, but it has been cancelled.  This match is still on the Desert Sharpshooters calendar, so please take note there will not be a smallbore match at PRGC on Dec 2.

There will be a smallbore conventional 1200 match at PRGC on Sunday Dec 23.  The first shot time for that match is 9:00 am.

I look forward to seeing you on the on 23rd.

11/10/18: PRGC Midrange Prone Results

Shooters,
Another beautiful day to be on the PRGC high power range.  Temps were in the mid 60's at the start warming up to the high 70's when the match completed around 12:00 pm.  The light winds weren't too much trouble, but were moving enough to keep an eye on.

We had a good junior turnout, representing both Service Rifle and F-Class Divisions.  In fact, Wickenburg Junior, Madison Drener won today's F-Open Division shooting an outstanding score of 597-36X, great shooting Madison!

Bill Gardner took first place in the FTR Division shooting 594-25X and I took first place in the Service Rifle Division shooting 583-15X.

Thanks to everyone who helped set up and put everything away.  Our next match at PRGC, on 11/18/2018, will be a CMP style 200 yard match, which is a good opportunity to break out your old military surplus rifles or bring a new shooter out to the range and introduce them to high-power position shooting.

See you on the range!
